A Day in the Life of the Pasta Factory
If you have ever worked in the food industry, you will know its not easy. You really have to run a well-oiled machine – especially if you are working with fresh food.
Luckily, we have lots of experience and a great team so we have an effective process to make sure you, our customers only receive the best, fresh food from us.
Not only do we sell our products in a range of retail outlets, but we also provide lots of fresh pasta and other product ranges to restaurants on a daily basis. It’s really important that the order process is slick so that they receive their goods on time. If we mess up then it effects their profits and reputation too!
How Does it Work?
So, how does it all work? Linda our sales rep is usually the first port of call. Linda regularly visits our customers to make sure they are happy, and receives feedback and new orders. This makes the process easy for our customers who are very busy! You can also phone our office sales team and place an order any time. Some prefer to email through their orders and it can also be done online. So, a method to suit everybody!
Sheila and Yusrah then process the orders and make sure it gets to the correct department within the factory. They will also pass on any special requests made by the customer to the supervisor.
I found some funny stories about unusual requests and came across this one which made me laugh. This happened at a pizza restaurant in America:
A lady calls and orders a ‘small pepperoni pizza with no pepperoni’ I clarify and ask her ‘So just a small cheese?’ To which the woman, clearly annoyed by my lack of understanding , says ‘NO. A small pepperoni with no pepperoni.’ I again clarify and ask ‘You want a pizza with sauce and cheese only?’ ‘Yes.’ ‘Ok so a cheese pizza.’ ‘NO I WANT A SMALL PEPPERONI WITH NO PEPPERONI.’
Needless to say, we do our best to accommodate any special requirements! You can always buy our pizza bases and make your own pepperoni pizza with no pepperoni if you so wish 🙂
Once the correct department receives the order, they will check to see if they need any specific ingredients. Talent then places the order in the morning and it will be delivered to us that day
Lindell and Brenda plan production of all orders to make sure everything is running smoothly and gets made on time
The all Important Quality Control
Our quality checkers are Talent and Juliane (who you know from our previous blog has VERY high standards !) They are on the floor making sure everything is in order and only the best quality food goes out.
You hear all kinds of horror stories about nasty things being found in food – for example in the UK, someone found a dead rodent in a packet of seafood from Tescos, and in the USA someone came across a shiny object in a MacDonald burrito which turned out to be a nose ring. (I can hear you all groaning in disgust along with me!) There are some other hideous stories that I don’t even want to share. I’m pleased to say that this would never happen at Pasta Factory as Our quality checks and procedures are rigorous.
Getting the Orders to our Customers
Once the order is ready, it is packaged and checked by Clifford and Lindell to make sure everything is correct and present.
Clifford personally delivers all of the orders to our customers. If you are a customer, you will get to know him well.
Once the busy day is over, all completed deliveries will be reconciled by Sheilla and Clifford.
Having a strong team where everyone knows what they are doing, and with the support and constant checking, we are very confident that we produce the best quality food, delivered fresh to happy customers. We also pride ourselves on an experienced and happy team. They say food made with care and love tastes better after all.
